Job description

Starting Hiring Range: $34,985 - $42,856

Under direct supervision, this position provides customer service including transportation to and from the senior center, meal service, and assistance with durable medical equipment, and assists in performing maintenance and repairs of the Senior Center facility.

• Performs custodial duties by mopping and sweeping floors, vacuuming carpet, polishing floors; cleaning the kitchen and bathrooms; ensuring that items in bathroom are re-stocked; cleans the offices; empties the trash; and maintains inventory of custodial equipment.

• May perform general maintenance activities including changing filters; replacing light bulbs; performing minor plumbing repairs; performs minor carpentry and electrical work.

• Cleans buildings and grounds as needed.

• Provides transportation to and from the Senior Center.

• Picks up donations and supplies from local vendors.

• Assists with serving lunch and cleaning spills.

• May set up and tear down furniture at city events.

• Performs all other duties as assigned.

High school diploma or GED equivalent, is required

Three (3) years general building maintenance experience is required.

• This position normally performs the duty assignment after receiving general instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results. There is some opportunity for discretion when making selections among a few, easily identifiable choices. The assignment is usually reviewed upon completion.

• Ability to regularly interact with others and exchange and receive information, providing effective and tactful customer service, and work independently with a high level of discretion.

• Skills in the use of hand tools.

• Some assignments may require skill in the use of fork and manual lift equipment.

• Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule

• Advanced ability to read a variety of materials and deal with system of real numbers, practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios/proportions, and measurement.

Special Requirements

This position is classified as a DOT position and is subject to regulated random drug and alcohol testing during the course of employment.

Licenses & Certifications

Must possess and maintain a valid Texas Class B Commercial Driver’s license, or equivalent if out of state, with acceptable driving record as established by the City of Midlothian driving standards.

Work Environment

Works primarily in a climate-controlled building environment. Physical demands consist of medium physical demands with the ability to lift between 20-50 lbs. Physical demands numerous depending on work location: working on ladder, forklift, going up and down stairs and standing on feet 80% of the workday. Physical strength to use floor buffer, ladder, steam cleaner, carpet cleaner and other washing equipment.

Must be available to work nights, weekends and special events.

Must be able to be available on a call-in basis if needed.
