Position Summary

The Building Services Worker II duties are inclusive of those of the BSW I. Responsibilities include sweeping, dust mopping, wet mopping, high and low dusting, use of small custodial equipment, cleaning of windows and surfaces, collecting and removing trash and recyclables, securing and unlocking buildings, delivering and transporting supplies, cleaning and disinfecting surfaces, cleaning classrooms, restrooms, offices, breakrooms, laboratories, clinics, and other areas, and maintaining supplies. Will perform bodily fluid cleanup or specialized viral/bacterial disinfection with appropriate kit and minor light bulb replacements from an 8 ft ladder. In addition, the BSW II will perform floor care with large specialized equipment and ensure safe operation and maintenance of equipment. Weekly building walk-through inspections and equipment inspections are expected, with reports submitted to the lead/supervisor.

Responsibilities
  • Perform floor care with large specialized floor care equipment: carpet cleaning and extraction, strip/wax/burnish floors, refinish wood floors, etc.
  • Responsible for safe operation and operator level maintenance of assigned equipment.
  • Conduct walk-through area/building inspections for cleanliness and safety hazards; complete inspection reports to submit to lead/supervisor.
  • Clean and restock restrooms; ensure adequate stock of resupply items in janitorial closets.
Qualifications
  • Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of related experience
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Custodial Experience & Equipment Use: proficiency with custodial tools (vacuum cleaners, wet/dry vacuums, T-1 scrubbers, etc.) and experience with floor care equipment (carpet extraction, stripping/waxing, refinishing wood floors)
    • Experience with floor care involving large, specialized equipment
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: establish and maintain effective communication; available to work specified shifts; availability for nights/weekends as needed.
Physical Demands
  • Lift up to 40 lbs; push/pull custodial carts up to 40 lbs; load/unload floor care machines up to 40 lbs
  • Frequent bending, squatting, lifting, kneeling; extended walking; ability to move throughout buildings including stairs and elevators
  • Work from 8 ft ladders
