Job summary

The Peace Center for the Performing Arts is seeking a Building and Services Supervisor to oversee janitorial operations and maintain the overall appearance of the facility. You will supervise housekeeping staff, assist in training, and act as Building Services authority when the manager is away.

Responsibilities include daily cleaning duties across all spaces, coordinating with the Building Services Manager, and ensuring safety policies are followed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of housekeeping procedures and equipment operation.
  • Ability to work with the public, volunteers, and producing teams.
  • Supervisory experience is preferred.

Job description

The Building and Services Supervisor at Peace Center for the Performing Arts contributes to an excellent patron and employee experience by ensuring the overall cleanliness and appearance of PCPA facilities through various janitorial tasks and duties. This position requires constant observance and use of PCPA safety policies and procedures in the execution of job duties and supervises other housekeeping staff.

Position Responsibilities

  • Helps supervises housekeeping staff during regular hours and assists in training personnel in proper methods and procedures
  • Serves as the Building Services authority in absence of the Building Services Manager
  • Performs daily housekeeping duties to maintain cleanliness and appearance of Peace Center Campus, including but not limited to Concert Hall, Gunter Theater, administrative offices, Huguenot Loft Space, Mill Lobby, restrooms, conference rooms, and break area
  • Performs all duties of a housekeeping staff member when necessary
  • Helps maintain inventory of equipment, materials and supplies
  • Oversees use of storage areas
  • May perform maintenance jobs not requiring a skilled tradesperson
  • Communicates regularly with the Building Services Manager on building repairs and conditions
  • Utilizes cleaning materials such as broom, dustpans, squeegees, buckets, sponges and spray bottles
  • Operates power equipment such as vacuums (back-pack and upright), power sweepers, carpet and upholstery cleaners, scrubbers and buffers, pressure washers, trash dumpsters, dolly and hand truck as needed to perform job duties
  • Demonstrate superior customer service skills in order to enhance the experience of donors, patrons, and all members of the general public
  • Observe all company safety and security policies to ensure safety of self, patrons and coworkers.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements and Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • Working knowledge of housekeeping and janitorial procedures and ability to operate the related equipment.
  • Knowledge of janitorial products and application procedures to ensure safety.
  • Ability to work with members of the public, volunteers, outside production crews and casts.
  • Self-motivated and able to stay busy without constant supervision
  • Consistent and accurate work
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role preferred
