City of Modesto is hiring a Building Safety Program Coordinator to lead the plan check team and champion customer service, ensuring that buildings are safe for residents, businesses and visitors.

The ideal candidate will provide technical expertise in building plan review, coordinate permitting activities, and promote continuous improvement while exemplifying the division's values of being solution oriented, collaborative and caring.

Qualifications

• Three years of increasingly responsible journey level experience in building inspection (commercial and residential).
• Associate degree in a related field or equivalent practical training/experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead plan check team and coordinate building inspection activities.
• Develop and implement programs related to building inspection and code enforcement.
• Coordinate permitting activities across departments and with outside agencies.
• Provide technical expertise and training to staff on building safety issues.
• Represent the department on committees and with external partners.
