Job summary

City of Roseville is seeking a Building Plans Examiner to join the Development Services team. The role involves collaborating with architects, engineers, contractors, and developers to resolve code issues and guide applicants toward compliant solutions.

As a Plans Examiner I or II, you will review construction documents for code compliance, provide clear guidance, and contribute to excellent customer service while maintaining safety standards.

Qualifications

• One year of increasingly responsible building plan examination, architectural design, drafting, and/or inspection experience.
• Completion of thirty units from an accredited college or university with major coursework in engineering, architecture or related field; ICC certificate can substitute for units.
• Possession of a valid ICC Building Plans Examiner certificate within one year of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, developers, property owners, and City staff to resolve code/design issues and identify compliant solutions.
• Provide responsive, solution-oriented customer service by clearly communicating code requirements and guiding applicants to code compliance.
• Review residential and commercial construction documents for compliance with building codes and City requirements.
• Contribute to a collaborative, customer-service-focused Development Services team.
