Job summary

The City of Roseville is hiring a Building Plans Examiner to join the Development Services team in Roseville, CA. The role involves reviewing plans for code compliance and working with architects, engineers, contractors, developers, and property owners to resolve technical challenges.

Qualifications

• One year of increasingly responsible building plan examination, architectural design, drafting, and/or inspection experience.
• Completion of thirty units from an accredited college or university with major course work in engineering, architecture or a related field (ICC certificate can substitute for the thirty units).
• Possession of a valid ICC certificate as a Building Plans Examiner is required within one year of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, developers, property owners, and City staff to resolve code and design issues and identify code-compliant solutions.
• Provide responsive, solution-oriented customer service by clearly communicating code requirements and helping applicants understand the path to code compliance.
• Review residential and commercial construction documents for compliance with applicable building codes and City requirements.
