Job summary

Boone County Fiscal Court is seeking a Building Inspector to review residential and commercial plans and perform inspections to ensure compliance with state and local codes. The role involves interpreting plans, enforcing applicable codes, and coordinating with stakeholders to resolve violations.

Under the supervision of the Chief Building Inspector, you will participate in safety training, document findings, and utilize electronic permitting systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum three (3) years experience in a responsible, directly related construction position or architect/engineer office performing building design or drafting duties
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret policies, procedures, and governmental regulations
• Must possess good oral, written and listening skills

Responsibilities

• Examine building plans to familiarize self with assigned project and applicable codes
• Interpret and enforce building codes and ordinances on inspections
• Conduct on-site inspections for residential and commercial construction
• Maintain logs and prepare reports of inspections and enforcement actions
• Communicate with homeowners, builders, and architects regarding code interpretations
