Job summary

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in a construction-related role or architecture/engineering drafting.
• Associate degree in a design, building technology, or construction-related subject.
• Ability to obtain Kentucky One- and Two-Family Dwelling Inspector certification within 18 months of hire.
• Valid motor vehicle operator’s license.

Responsibilities

• Inspect residential construction to verify compliance with approved plans and codes.
• Assist in commercial plan reviews and inspections.
• Enforce state and county building codes and ordinances.
• Communicate with builders, architects, and inspectors about code interpretations.
• Read and interpret engineering reports and material specifications.
• Maintain safety and use of permitting software.
• Participate in mandatory state training on building codes and enforcement methods.
