Job summary

The City of Napa seeks a skilled Permit Technician for the Building Division to advise contractors, developers, engineers, architects and the public on permit processes and building regulations. You will handle applications, plan checks, and permit issuance while supporting the team with information sharing and referrals.

Strong communication, collaboration, and customer service are essential as you educate the public on new building regulations.

Qualifications

Possession of an ICC Permit Technician certification within one year of appointment.
Experience processing permits and plan checking for Building Department or local government preferred.
Strong communication and collaboration skills with customers and contractors.

Responsibilities

Provide guidance on permit requirements to contractors, developers, engineers, architects, and the public.
Route applications, perform plan checks, issue permits, and share information with stakeholders.
Support building division activities including data entry, recordkeeping, and reporting.
