Job summary

Aoka LLC is seeking a Certified Building Official (CBO) to lead a team of building inspectors in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. You will supervise inspection programs, enforce building codes, and serve as a trusted SME to support the sales team on complex projects.

Assessments include directing code interpretations, managing permits and reports, and collaborating across departments to ensure safety and compliance. Competitive compensation and robust benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• ICC Certified Building Official (CBO) required; additional ICC certifications (Plans Examiner, Building Inspector) highly desirable
• Minimum 5–7 years of progressive experience in building inspection, code enforcement, or construction management
• Proven leadership and supervisory experience
• Strong analytical skills and ability to solve complex code-related issues under pressure
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills

Responsibilities

• Supervise building inspectors and manage inspection programs
• Serve as a subject matter expert supporting the sales team
• Conduct client visits as needed for complex or escalated projects
• Administer and enforce municipal, state, and federal building codes, safety, energy, and accessibility standards
• Oversee issuance of building permits, plan approvals, occupancy certificates, and inspection reports
• Interpret complex codes and provide guidance to architects, engineers, contractors, and property owners
• Collaborate with fire, planning, zoning, engineering, and public works departments for coordinated code enforcement
• Manage appeals, code updates, and ordinance revisions
• Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on inspections, permitting, and code compliance
