Job summary

Aoka LLC in the Dallas/Fort Worth area seeks a Certified Building Official to lead a team of inspectors, oversee program compliance, and act as a subject matter expert for the sales team.

You will administer and enforce codes, supervise permits and plans, and guide architects, engineers, and owners while advancing company practices through training and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• ICC Certified Building Official (CBO) required.
• Minimum 5–7 years of progressive building inspection experience.
• Proven leadership and supervisory experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities under pressure.
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise building inspectors and manage inspection programs.
• Serve as a subject matter expert supporting the sales team.
• Conduct client visits for complex or escalated projects.
• Enforce municipal, state, and federal building codes, safety, energy, and accessibility standards.
• Oversee issuance of building permits, plan approvals, occupancy certificates, and inspection reports.
• Interpret complex codes and provide guidance to architects, engineers, contractors, and property owners.
• Collaborate with fire, planning, zoning, engineering, and public works departments for coordinated code enforcement.
• Manage appeals, code updates, and ordinance revisions.
• Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on inspections, permitting, and code compliance.
