Job summary

Aoka is seeking a Certified Building Official to lead a team of building inspectors and act as a subject matter expert for our sales team, shaping building safety across DFW projects.

You will supervise inspectors, manage inspection programs, and enforce municipal, state, and federal codes while supporting cross-department collaboration. A company vehicle, ongoing training, and development opportunities support your success.

Qualifications

• ICC Certified Building Official (CBO) required.
• Minimum 5–7 years of progressive experience in building inspection.
• Proven leadership and supervisory experience.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to solve complex code-related issues under pressure.
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise building inspectors and manage inspection programs
• Serve as a subject matter expert supporting the sales team
• Conduct client visits as needed for complex or escalated projects
• Administer and enforce municipal, state, and federal building codes, safety, energy, and accessibility standards
• Oversee issuance of building permits, plan approvals, occupancy certificates, and inspection reports
• Interpret complex codes and provide guidance to architects, engineers, contractors, and property owners
• Collaborate with fire, planning, zoning, engineering, and public works departments for coordinated code enforcement
• Manage appeals, code updates, and ordinance revisions
• Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on inspections, permitting, and code compliance
