  • Monitor and escort outsourced contractors when required.
  • Respond to emergencies 24/7 and assist with snow removal.
  • Input work orders and record maintenance activities.

TheAsset Management Property Operations Department i s responsible for protecting and enhancing the value of City-owned real estate assets and serving the operational needs of tenant businesses. In addition, the d epartment assists NYC EDC in the allocation of resources among its properties.

Position Overview: The Mechanic position is responsible for the o perations and m aintenance of City-owned properties within NYCEDC's Asset Management portfolio, specifically the Bush Terminal/ MADE Campus in Brooklyn , NY , and other properties as assigned within the EDC portfolio. This role reports to the AVP of Operations of the MADE Campus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintenance & Repairs:
  • Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and emergency services as directed, including electrical, gas, water & sewer, plumbing, heating ventilation and air conditioner (HVAC), domestic water pumps, carpentry, painting,masonryand general janitorial needs. Perform cleaning duties whenrequired.
Field Management:
  • Conduct daily inspections of assigned properties andinformsupervisor of any maintenance issues or repairs needed. Ability to work autonomously but also receive guidance from the Specialty Mechanic or Lead Mechanic.
  • Performinspectionsandhavefamiliaritywiththefunctionalityofthemechanicalequipment.
  • Whendirected,providetechnicalguidancetomaintenancepersonnel,includingschedulingandcoordinatingwork assignments persupervisordirection.
Outsourced Contracting:
  • Monitorand report work performed by outsourced contractors.
  • Assistand escort outsourced contractors whenrequired.
Communication andReporting:
  • Communicate effectively with peers, supervisors, and external partners.
  • Report on repairsandprojectswith relevant stakeholderstoprovide status updatesandensuretimelycompletion of work.
Emergency Response:
  • Respond to emergencies asrequired. Must be available and responsive 24/7 and able toassistwithsolutions during the decision-making process as issues arise.
  • Conductsnowremoval duties at assigned sites
Training:
  • Assist the Specialty Mechanic and/or Lead Mechanic and learn new trades as needed.
  • When directed, provide technical guidance to maintenance personnel,including scheduling and coordinating work assignments.
Duty Station and Site Reporting:
  • This is an onsite position that requires a 5-day presence at theSunset ParkCampus with travel to ourmain officeat One Liberty Plaza as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Certifications and Ongoing Development:

While notrequiredat the time of hire, the following certifications (not limited to) are encouragedandmaybe obtained during employment:

  • OSHA 30 Hour
  • FDNY S12 Supervision of Sprinkler Systems (Citywide)
  • FDNY S13 Supervision of Standpipe Systems (Citywide)
  • FDNY S95 Supervision of Fire Alarm Systems
  • Backhoes/heavy equipment training (Dump Truck/front-end loader/skid steer/backhoe)
  • Aerial Work Platform Certification
  • CPR/AED/Basic First AidTraining
  • TWIC Certification
Qualifications:
  • HighSchooldiplomaorequivalent;vocational training or certification is a plus.
  • 5+yearsofexperiencerequiredwithworkingknowledgeinmaintenance,inspectionsandrepairs
  • Ability to usehandheldanddesktopcomputerdevicestoinputworkordersandrecordwork
  • MustmaintainavalidNYSDriverLicensewithcleandrivingrecord
  • Workingknowledgeofconstructionandhandymanrepairtechniques.Experienceinelectrical, plumbing,HVACand equipment associated with trades
  • Experienceworkingwithhandtools,powertools,andmaterials,andequipmentassociatedwithconstructionrelatedtrades.

Salary Range

$60,000 - $62,000 USD
