Job summary

Builders FirstSource is seeking an Inside Counter Sales Representative in New York to assist customers and contractors with quotes and product information, in person or by phone. You will be the liaison between customers and internal teams, handling orders, pricing, and deliveries while maintaining BFS service standards.

You’ll build product knowledge, support sales goals, and contribute to a positive customer experience in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• 1–2 years in building material industry preferred.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Represent BFS during sales by collecting customer needs and acting as liaison between departments.
• Respond to inquiries on product selection, pricing, orders, delivery, and follow-ups.
• Initiate calls to generate sales and meet sales goals.
• Build product and industry knowledge through company training.
• Provide accurate material take-offs for residential projects.
• Support drafting/engineering with technical assistance when required.
• Operate computer systems for orders, pricing, and invoicing.
• Maintain stock levels on the sales floor and in the stockroom.
• Process cash register operations and handle basic financial transactions.
• Coordinate purchases and deliveries of special products.
