Southern Lumber & Millwork Corp. in Charleston, SC is seeking a dependable Delivery Assistant / Striker to join the team. You will work with a truck driver to load, transport, and unload lumber, windows, doors, trim, millwork, and other building materials across the Charleston area.

The role emphasizes safety, customer service, and reliable performance in a fast-paced material delivery environment. Local candidates preferred; full-time, weekday schedule with overtime available.

Qualifications

• Must be dependable, hardworking, and willing to learn.
• Must lift and handle 80+ lbs safely.
• Must pass required drug testing and background checks.
• Must start at 5:00 AM and work until deliveries are completed, typically Mon–Fri.
• Must be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Local candidates preferred.
• Experience in building materials, delivery, or lumberyard work is a plus but not required.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload building materials from delivery trucks.
• Assist the driver and provide delivery support at job sites.
• Interact professionally with contractors, builders, and homeowners at delivery locations.
• Ensure materials are loaded, secured, and protected during transport.
• Follow all company safety policies and OSHA procedures.
