Job summary

Tarrant County is seeking a Building Manager to supervise six or more staff and oversee daily building operations. You will use HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and computer skills to keep facilities running efficiently and to purchase supplies and monitor expenditures.

The role includes directing technicians, managing priorities, coordinating with vendors, and preparing monthly budget reports for the Operations Manager. Strong supervisory experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent required.
• 4 years in building operations including 3 years in building operations management.
• Knowledge of basic building operations, life safety systems, plumbing, electrical and HVAC.

Responsibilities

• Directs technicians and custodial staff on regular duties and special projects.
• Prioritizes and assigns work to all employees to provide proper service to all building occupants.
• Works with vendors and contractors, overseeing the work and ensuring that it is performed properly.
• Inputs all requisitions and receipts for materials and services received into computer.
• Oversees the operating budget and controls expenses within the assigned budget.
• Makes recommendations for capital budget and proves cost estimates.
• Performs general office work including maintaining work logs, employee time, logbooks, inventory, and monthly reports to Operations Manager.
• Trains employees on proper safety and operation of building systems.
• Engages with building occupants to meet needs and gather improvement ideas.
• Performs all other related duties involved in Facilities Management as assigned.

Performs supervisor and building maintenance duties for the operation of Tarrant County buildings. Manages six (6) or more employees to ensure good working relationships with building occupants. Utilizes skills of HVAC, plumbing, electrical and computer skills to keep building(s) operating efficiently. Utilizes computer skills to purchase and receive all necessary supplies and equipment for all building operations and monitor all building expenditures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Directs technicians and custodial staff on regular duties and special projects.

2. Prioritizes and assigns work to all employees in order to provide proper service to all building occupants.

10. Performs all other related duties involved in the operation of Facilities Management as assigned or required.

• Associate's degree in a related field or equivalent.
• Four (4) years experience in building operations including three (3) years of building operations management experience.
• Supervisory training preferred.
• Must have knowledge of basic building operations, life safety systems, plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems.
• Must be computer literate in Windows and have knowledge of spreadsheets and word processing.
• Current and valid TX driver's license required.

Physical Demands and Work Environment & Other Requirements

While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, walk, grasp, climb, pull and push. This position may require overtime, rotating shifts nights, evenings, weekends and holiday work. Candidates must have the ability to pass a criminal background investigation prior to employment.
