Jefferson County Central Services is seeking a Maintenance Worker I to perform building and grounds maintenance at the Courthouse and Sheriff’s Office/Jail, on a rotating weekly on-call schedule. You will handle routine repairs, work orders, and preventive maintenance alongside the maintenance team.

Preferred candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent with related experience, a valid driver’s license, and electrical repair certification is desirable.

Formación

• High school diploma or equivalent with one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent education/experience.
• Electrical or electronic repair certification is desired.
• HVAC experience and certifications are preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Performs repairs, completes work orders, and preventive maintenance safely and efficiently.
• Troubleshoots and researches new or unfamiliar equipment.
• Works independently and with the team to ensure timely task completion.
• Performs or assists in maintenance on equipment such as water heaters, boilers, water pumps, plumbing fixtures, kitchen and laundry equipment, jail detention equipment, pods, electronic doors, and lighting.

About Central Services Of Jefferson County

Central Services is responsible for ensuring the functionality, safety, and efficiency of all physical assets, facilities and equipment of Jefferson County. The purpose of this position is to perform building and grounds maintenance and repair tasks during assigned shift for Jefferson County. Primary responsibilities will be at the Courthouse building and within the Sheriff’s Office/Jail Facility. This position is also on a rotating weekly on-call schedule.

Someone who enjoys working with their hands and takes pride in keeping things running smoothly. In this role, you will work with other maintenance team members on routine repairs, work requests and general facility PM’s.

To be successful in this position, you will be focusing on the below responsibilities:

• Performs repairs, completing work orders, and preventive maintenance in a safe and efficient manner.
• Troubleshoots and researches new or unfamiliar equipment.
• Works independently and collaboratively to ensure timely task completion.
• Performs or may assist in maintenance and repair tasks on a variety of items, such as hot water heaters, boilers, water softeners, water pumps, plumbing fixtures, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, jail detention equipment, pods, electronic doors, and lighting equipment.
• Performs changing and repair of locks, doors, electronic sensors, motors, bearings, fuses, relays, devices and video equipment.

Salary Information

Wage starts at $22.34 - $24.90/per hour, depending on qualifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with one year related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in electrical, plumbing, building and grounds maintenance.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Electrical or electronic repair certification is desired.

Preferred Requirements

• Two years related experience and/or training; or a vocational technology degree from a college or university; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning), mechanical systems. HVAC Technician certification.
