Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) is seeking a Building Maintenance Worker to join our Facilities team in Troy, NY. This full-time, 40-hour-per-week role performs semi-skilled maintenance across masonry, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and painting trades.

The position requires a NYS driver's license, a high school diploma or equivalent, and at least two years of related experience. HVCC offers health, dental/vision insurance, retirement benefits, and tuition waivers.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in general building maintenance or trades in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, or related areas.
• New York State Driver License required.
• Residency in New York State for at least four months prior to hire; preference to Rensselaer County residents.

Responsibilities

• Performs semi-skilled work in masonry, carpentry, electrical or painting operations.
• Helps to install and repair wiring systems and electrical fixtures and equipment.
• Repairs windows, doors, floors, walls and other parts of buildings.
• Does interior and exterior painting where quantity of work matters more than fine quality.
• Helps to install and repair general plumbing equipment such as sinks, toilets and baths.
• Assists in cleaning and repairing boilers, pumps, heaters, pipe lines, valves and traps.
• Makes plaster and concrete; assists in bricklaying and finishing concrete work.
• Operates trucks, automobiles, air compressors, and other motorized equipment.
• Takes part in general grounds maintenance activities.
• Serves as general handyman performing a variety of semi-skilled duties.

New York State Driver License is required.High School Diploma or equivalency is preferred.DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES: The Building Maintenance Worker performs under general instructions and work is performed under immediate or general supervision, depending upon the nature of the task. The Building Maintenance Worker reports to the Building Maintenance Worker I or II and performs the following duties:• Performs semi-skilled work in masonry, carpentry, electrical or painting operations.• Helps to install and repair wiring systems and electrical fixtures and equipment.• Repairs windows, doors, floors, walls and other parts of buildings.• Does interior and exterior painting where quantity rather than fine quality of work performed is the principal object.• Helps to install and repair general plumbing equipment, such as sinks, toilets and baths.• Assists in cleaning and repairing boilers, pumps, heaters, pipe lines, valves and traps.• Mixes plaster and concrete and assists in laying brick, plastering walls, finishing concrete work, etc.• Operates trucks, automobiles, air compressors, and other motorized equipment.• Takes part in general grounds maintenance activities.• Serves as general handyman performing a variety of semi-skilled duties.• Performs other related duties that may be assigned.This is a full-time 12-month, 40-hour work week position with an hourly rate of $22.26.
