MMS Group is seeking a Building Maintenance Technician in Newark, NJ. This full-time role focuses on maintaining apartment homes, exterior/interior spaces, and common areas. You will handle small repairs, flooring installation, and unit turnovers with a strong emphasis on safety and quality.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of residential maintenance, a high school diploma or equivalent, and basic tools. Local travel and on-call rotation may be required; MS Office proficiency is expected.

Qualifications

• Three+ years of residential multifamily property maintenance experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Regular maintenance of residential apartment homes and common areas.
• Perform repairs to appliances, plumbing, electrical systems and fixtures.
• Install tile and laminate flooring.
• Participate in on-call emergency response per company policy.
• Manage turnover of empty units including basic repairs and touches.
• Perform other duties as assigned in the job description.

Salary Range: $18.00 To $25.00 Hourly

*MMS is always looking for talented Property Managers to join our team. This posting is designed to build a pipeline of qualified candidates for current and future opportunities throughout our portfolio. Our Maintenance technicians are responsible for the maintenance operations related to apartment home upkeep and unit turns.

Key Responsibilities:

Regular Maintenance: Maintain residential apartment homes and other areas on the property, including building exteriors, interiors, and public areas, regularly.

Repairs: Perform small appliance, plumbing, electrical, and other repairs in residential apartments and other areas of the property.

Installation: Install tile and laminate flooring

Emergency Response: Take part in the on-call rotation schedule, responding to emergency calls according to the company's policy on after-hour emergency calls

Unit Turnover: Manage the turnover of empty apartment units, including repairs (e.g., sheetrock, taping, sanding, painting, and fixing doors, windows, light fixtures, etc.).

Additional Duties: Perform other duties as outlined in the job description.

Requirements:

Experience: Three+ years of residential multifamily property management/apartment maintenance.

License: valid driver’s license

Tools: Possession of basic tools needed to perform routine maintenance tasks.

Physical Requirements: Physical aspects of the job may require heavy lifting, bending, kneeling, stooping, climbing, balancing, and carrying

Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
