JOB TITLE: Building Maintenance Technician

Job Summary/Scope
Performs electrical, plumbing and carpentry work in the maintenance of the division facilities at yards. Maintains air conditioning and heating units and assist with snow removal and street repairs as necessary. No supervisory or budgetary responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains the building and yard area.
- Maintains and Repairs computerized fuel system.
- Maintains and Repairs boiler.
- Repairs electrical wiring and Maintains air conditioning/heating units.
- Performs repair work on wash rack.
- Maintains DNR required reports on hazardous waste and fuel systems.
- Performs plumbing work on building and grounds.
Other Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerforms all other related duties as assigned.

Required (Essential) Knowledge, Skills and Abilities- Skills in electrical wiring, plumbing and general carpentry.
- Knowledge of boiler, air conditioning and heating unit operations.
- Ability to troubleshoot malfunctions and make necessary repairs.
- Ability to follow instructions and perform tasks with minimum supervision.
- One to three years of prior experience in a related field required.
- Valid Class A CDL with Tanker endorsement required.
- Required to be on-call and/or carry a pager and respond to emergencies as needed.
Materials and Equipment Directly UsedUses a variety of hand tools, electric saw, pipe benders, yard maintenance tools such as mowers, hedge trimmer and edger as well as other related tools. Operates a light truck on a daily basis. There may be times when use of personal vehicle may be required.
Working Environment/Physical RequirementsExposure to extreme weather conditions including extreme heat and cold. Good eye/hand coordination. Frequent standing, bending, walking, stooping and climbing. Occasional lifts objects weighing 50 pounds and infrequently lift objects weighing in excess of 50 pounds. Subject to call-ins under emergency conditions. Some overnight or day travel may be required for business purposes. Vacation and other leave scheduling shall be requested of and approved by the appropriate supervisor.
EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent required.
Passing of a drug screening required prior to appointment.
