Job Title

Building Maintenance Technician

Job Description Summary

Responsible for assisting with operation troubleshooting, diagnostics, housekeeping, and repairs on commercial buildings, industrial systems, vehicles, grounds, and maintenance equipment for assigned properties/facilities.

Responsibilities
  1. Assist with troubleshooting and repairs of buildings and installed systems, including packaging and handling machinery, plumbing, kitchen equipment, roofs, drains, shop, grounds equipment, and HVAC.
  2. Clean, lubricate, and service pumps, valves, pneumatic controls, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic devices.
  3. Assist with installation and modification of building equipment and systems.
  4. Replace and repair building finishes such as ceiling tiles, door hardware, wallpaper, and perform painting on walls, piping, floors, and equipment.
  5. Evaluate and recommend upgrades to maintenance operations and identify savings opportunities.
  6. Handle tools and equipment used in facility and ground maintenance competently.
  7. Respond promptly to emergency situations and customer service requests.
  8. Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment for unsafe or malfunctioning conditions and perform preventative maintenance.
  9. Maintain and operate fire and life safety systems as assigned.
  10. Perform carpentry and snow removal duties as necessary.
  11. Comply with all relevant codes, regulations, and safety practices.
  12. Use technology such as smartphones, tablets, computers, and building automation systems.
  13. Complete all required safety training annually.
  14. Maintain a neat appearance and adhere to dress code when on duty.

Experience and Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of related experience in a commercial property setting.
  • Training in HVAC, electrical, mechanical, process controls, plumbing, carpentry, or engine repair preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record; commercial license may be required.
  • Basic skills in Outlook, Excel, and Word.
Work Environment

Office environment with routine use of standard office equipment.

Physical Demands

Must be able to communicate effectively, operate office machinery, move around the workplace, and perform physical tasks as described.
