Job summary

OTO Development is seeking a Building Maintenance Technician I to join our property maintenance team in Redwood City, CA. You will perform preventative maintenance, HVAC work, safety checks, and routine repairs to ensure a safe guest experience.

You will wear the uniform, follow safety guidelines, respond to emergencies, and contribute to a clean, well-maintained property with strong guest service, teamwork, and time management. Training is provided for certification courses.

Qualifications

• FSD Certification or capable of completing company-sponsored certification within 6–8 months.
• Able to complete company-sponsored Pool Operator class and pass the accompanying exam.
• Currently working as a Building Maintenance Technician I for at least 1 year or have 1–2 years' experience in a related field.
• General knowledge of hand tools and maintenance procedures.
• Ability to work well with others in a guest- and team-focused environment.
• Strong time management capabilities and can accomplish quality, detailed work within established parameters.
• Customer service skills and are able to anticipate guest needs, greet and acknowledge guests, and respond to guest requests to ensure guest satisfaction.
• Action orientation and can deliver the desired outcome.

Responsibilities

• Wear provided brand-standard uniform, identification, required footwear, and protective equipment to prevent injury
• Adhere to all safety and security guidelines regarding equipment safety, guest safety, and safe chemical handling
• Change HVAC filters and perform minor HVAC, plumbing, and electrical repairs
• Ensure fire life safety systems are functioning and operational
• Perform a wide variety of preventative maintenance duties
• Inspect and clean up in rooms after working in them and ensure they are in adherence with company standards
• Pick trash throughout the property
• Ensure all maintenance equipment is properly functioning and maintained
• Respond in a timely manner to all maintenance emergencies
• Paint walls, ceilings, doors and window trim as needed
• Ensure guest laundry washers, dryers, vending machines, and common areas are cleaned twice daily

What are the requirements for this position?

• You have FSD Certification or are capable of completing the company sponsored certification requirements within the first 6-8 months of employment
• You have the ability to take a company sponsored Pool Operator class and pass the accompanying exam
• You are currently working as a Building Maintenance Technician I for at least 1 year or have at least 1-2 years’ experience in a related field
• You possess a general knowledge of hand tools and maintenance procedures
• You can work well with others in a guest and team-focused environment
• You have strong time management capabilities and can accomplish quality, detailed work within established parameters
• You have customer service skills and are able anticipate guest needs, greet and acknowledge guests, and respond to guest requests to ensure guest satisfaction
• You have an action orientation and can deliver the desired outcome

Physical Requirements For This Position

This is a physically demanding position. You must be comfortable standing, sitting, walking, bending, lifting, and squatting for extended periods of time.

Travel Requirements

This position would require little to no travel outside the property and surrounding area.
