The Matanuska-Susitna Borough is seeking a skilled maintenance technician to perform specialized duties in the repair and upkeep of Borough buildings, ensuring safety and quality in accordance with Borough policies and core values.
The role requires a high school diploma, five years of experience in building maintenance, and the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed; a valid Alaska driver’s license is required.
This position performs specialized duties in the maintenance and repair of Borough buildings.

This position may be called in to provide support outside regular business hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.L1 - L5 - DOE
High School diploma or equivalent.
Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the occupational field, sufficient to understand the major duties of the position, and to be able to answer questions and resolve problems.
Relevant experience may include: Maintenance of building interiors and exteriors, performing minor carpentry, drywall repair, painting, flooring repairs, and general upkeep. Preventive and corrective maintenance on building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, doors, locks, and fixtures, basic plumbing repairs such as repairing leaks, replacing faucets, unclogging drains, and maintaining restroom facilities, keeping accurate maintenance logs, work order documentation, and inventories of tools, equipment, and supplies. Ability to work independently, safely, and professionally, with demonstrated experience interpreting and adhering to standard operating procedures.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Alaska for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Must be at least 19 years of age with one (1) year of driving experience.
Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed, and respond to emergency calls.
Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen, and physical.
