The Commonwealth of Massachusetts is seeking a Building Maintenance Man to perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance tasks under supervision. Responsibilities include repairs, basic plumbing, and groundskeeping, requiring at least one year of relevant experience. Candidates must be residents of Boston and skilled in ordinary maintenance duties.

Under supervision, performs a variety of ordinary maintenance tasks of a semi-skilled nature; and does related work as required.
Does rough painting; repairs floors and windows; replaces faucet washers; makes adjustments to toilet mechanisms; replaces electrical wirings. Digs shallow drainage ditches; repairs leaks in pipes; operates roto-rooter; applies small patches to highway surfaces. Digs up broken sections of sidewalk and patches cement work; repairs drinking fountains; makes simple adjustments to motors; repairs and paints furniture. Operates automotive equipment. Repairs switches, fans and desk lamps. May cut grass, pick up rubbish, shovel snow, cut and trim bushes and trees in addition to maintenance duties. Performs other semi-skilled maintenance tasks as needed.
1 year of experience in related work is required. Must be a resident of the city of Boston.
