Job summary

Riverbay Corporation in The Bronx, NY is hiring a Full Time supervisor to manage janitorial and facilities staff. You will oversee scheduling, discipline, hiring recommendations, and ensure work meets established standards. The role requires a high school diploma (some college preferred) and at least three years of supervisory experience in facilities.

Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and OSHA knowledge is expected; a valid driver’s license is required. Drug screening will be conducted.

Responsibilities

  • Manage staff, including hiring, firing, discipline, evaluating, interviewing and directing the work.
  • Forecast necessary levels of staffing and stock and equipment, regularly, to facilitate effective scheduling and ordering.
  • Inspect work performed to ensure that it meets specifications and established standards.
  • Coordinate activities with other departments to ensure that services are provided in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Establish and implement operational standards; develop and provide training as necessary.
  • Investigate complaints about service and equipment and take corrective action.
  • Maintain required records of work hours other related pay structure information.
  • Inspect and evaluate the physical condition of facilities to determine the type of work required and make necessary work assignments.
  • Check equipment to ensure that it is in working order; secure service as needed or assign appropriate staff to make repairs.
  • Select and order or purchase new equipment, supplies, or furnishings.
  • Evaluate operational efficiency and make recommendations for changes and improvements
  • Prepare management reports based on data gathered and make recommendations forstaffing orovertime usage, facility usage, etc.
  • Participate in budget development based on evaluation of departmental expenses.
  • Ensure supplies and equipment are issued to staff. Select the most suitable cleaning materials for different types of linens, furniture, flooring, and surfaces.
  • Recommend and/or arrange for additional services, such as painting, repair work, renovations, and the replacement of furnishings and equipment, as necessary.
  • Perform other projects and duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $63,648.00 To $66,280.45 Annually

Educational Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Some college, a plus.
Work Experience and Minimum Requirements:
  • Three (3) supervisory years’ experience in janitorial, porter, maintenance or related facilities field.
  • Have knowledge of janitorial techniques and procedures, as well as strong troubleshooting skills of same as it pertains to hi-rise buildings and other smaller facilities.
  • Effective written/oral communication and good interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge in Microsoft Office that includes MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and safety requirements related to janitorial operations.
  • Must be available for emergency work.
  • Must be able to lawfully drive.
Testing:
  • Drug screening, as permitted by, and consistent with, applicable law.
Physical Requirements:
  • Persons performing service in this position classification may routinely exert up to 100 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • This type of work will involve regular walking or standing for extended periods of time. It may involve stooping or bending.
  • Handling and working with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.
