The City of Grimes in Iowa seeks a Building Inspector to inspect buildings, conduct plan reviews, and enforce city codes. Under the Building Division Administrator, you will examine plans, perform field inspections, issue permits, and advise the public on code requirements.

You will review plans for residential and commercial projects, provide guidance to homeowners, contractors, and engineers, and help with enforcement actions as needed.

Formación

• High school graduate; 2-3 years in building trades or municipal infrastructure construction.
• ICC certification required within 2 years of employment.
• Must possess a valid Iowa driver’s license.

Responsabilidades

• Review building plans and permit applications for code compliance.
• Perform field inspections during construction to ensure compliance and issue permits.
• Assist with residential and commercial building plan review.
• Correspond with homeowners, contractors, architects or engineers on codes and standards.
• Issue certificates of occupancy and manage projects as assigned.
• Maintain clear records and be prepared to testify in court as required.
