The Town of Plainfield is seeking a Building Inspector to review building plans and perform inspections for projects issued a building permit. This role requires enforcing the Building Code, reviewing submittals for completeness, and releasing permit applications for construction.

Responsibilities include data entry in the permit management system, maintaining inspection records, and staying current with applicable laws.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED with vocational or technical training in mechanical systems or building trades; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must obtain ICC B1 & B2 Certification within 18 months of start.
3–5 years related experience and/or training; previous construction related experience is desired.

Responsabilités

Reviews the Building Code provisions and enforces them for the Town of Plainfield.
Reviews applications and plans to ensure submittals are complete and reviewable.
Assesses permit fees using the permit management system and releases permit applications for construction.
Enters data into the permit management system for applications, approvals, inspections, and violations.
Prepares and maintains records of inspection activities and enters results into the permit management system.
Maintains current knowledge of laws/regulations; attends workshops and training sessions as appropriate.
Cross-train and support Code Enforcement duties as needed.
Maintains department vehicles and performs or schedules preventative maintenance.
Performs administrative duties and communicates with the Building Commissioner.
