4LEAF, Inc. in Dublin, CA is seeking a Building Inspector II to perform code inspections in Alameda or Santa Clara counties. Must be ICC-certified; DSA/OSHPD/CASp desirable.

Responsibilities include enforcing building codes, interpreting plans, and communicating with contractors. This is a full-time, on-the-road role. The pay range is $38.08–$47.60 per hour with benefits including health, dental, 401(k), and paid time off.

Qualifications

• Proven knowledge of Federal, State, and local laws, codes and ordinances relating to building construction.
• Understanding of the accepted safety standards, testing procedures and methods of construction.
• Principles and techniques of building inspection work.
• Basic understanding of the plan checking process.
• Computer knowledge and skills are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Inspect new buildings and additions for code compliance.
• Explain building regulations to the public, contractors, designers, and owners with emphasis on life/safety issues.
• Identify and solve complex problems by informing developers, engineers, architects, owners, and contractors about code requirements and alternatives.
• Field questions regarding building requirements.
• Make independent analysis during the inspection process.
• Advise Planning, Engineering and/or Code Enforcement personnel regarding building-related issues.
• Read and interpret various codes and apply good judgment in enforcement.
• Write clear correction notices and inspection reports.
