Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with coursework in building construction trades.
• Thorough knowledge of all types of building construction materials and methods and observation of potential violations.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and blueprints accurately.

Responsibilities

• Performs field inspections and reinspections for code compliance and documents violations.
• Reviews plans and specifications for construction systems for code compliance.
• Maintains records and files, issues Certificates of Compliance, and collaborates to resolve deficiencies.
• Interprets codes and provides information to the public and professionals; conducts code research.
• Issues warnings and stop-work orders when needed; may testify in court.
• Responds to public complaints and inspects various facilities; operates county vehicle.
