Qualifications

• Knowledge of building, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing inspection practices.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and codes.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment in applying standards.
• Ability to communicate tactfully with property owners, contractors and public.

Responsibilities

• Inspect building, electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems to enforce codes.
• Review plans and specifications for code compliance.
• Maintain inspection data and prepare required reports.
• Coordinate inspection schedules with other inspectors and departments.
• Answer inquiries and provide information on inspections and permits.
• Maintain and renew certifications as required by Virginia codes.
• Conduct field inspections and ensure compliance with USBC and NEC where applicable.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
