Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and 3 years of trade experience.
• Virginia Tradesman License preferred or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Valid driver's license and ability to obtain required certifications within stated timelines.

Responsibilities

• Enforce state and local building codes across building, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems.
• Review construction plans and specifications for code compliance and issue violations as needed.
• Enter inspection data and maintain reports; plan daily inspection routes.
• Communicate with contractors, property owners, and the public; provide information on inspections and permits.
• Maintain certifications and attend training to stay current with code changes.
• May perform field inspections of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing installations to verify compliance.
