Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and 3 years of trade experience.
• Possession or ability to obtain one of Residential or Commercial inspector certifications.
• Valid driver's license.
• Knowledge of building codes, inspections, and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Inspect building, electrical, mechanical, or plumbing systems for code compliance.
• Review construction plans and specifications for adherence to codes.
• Interact with property owners, developers, and contractors; issue notices as needed.
• Maintain and renew certifications with Virginia DHCD; attend required training.
• Keep accurate inspection records, forms, and reports; schedule inspections.
