Job summary

The Building Inspector for City of Glendale (AZ) performs inspections to ensure compliance with the city's codes across building, electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems. This role requires reviewing plans, conducting on-site inspections, and determining code-compliant solutions.

Candidates should have at least two years of college or vocational study in related fields and two years of building construction or inspection experience; ICC certification within six months is required.

Qualifications

• Two years of college or vocational course work in building construction, drafting, engineering studies or a related field.
• Two years experience in building construction or building inspections.
• Equivalent education/training may substitute for required education; one year of relevant experience can substitute for each year of education.

Responsibilities

• Inspect industrial, commercial, and residential buildings at various construction stages to enforce codes.
• Review plans and on-site checks to ensure compliance with City, State, and Federal regulations.
• Coordinate and schedule inspection requests and prepare inspection reports and citations.
• Explain building codes and requirements to architects, engineers, contractors, and homeowners.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
