Harris Teeter is hiring for Building & Grounds (Sanitation) in the Perishable Warehouse on the 3rd shift. The role focuses on keeping the warehouse, offices, and surrounding areas clean and safe, with duties like mopping, sweeping, waste handling, and operating cleaning equipment while observing safety policies.

Candidate should be detail-oriented, capable of following safety procedures around chemicals and equipment, and able to work in a fast-paced warehouse.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred; or 1–3 months related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and memos.
  • Ability to safely operate cleaning equipment and follow safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans warehouse, offices, restrooms, and outside areas.
  • Mops, sweeps, scrubs floors and walls; empties trash and recycling.
  • Operates and works safely with chemicals, sweepers, scrubbers and pallet jacks.
  • Cleans pick slots, under racking, and perimeters; follows safety policies.
  • Processes damaged/orphan cases and recycling materials as required.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.

BUILDING & GROUNDS (Sanitation) Perishable Warehouse - 3rd shift
Summary:

Keeps warehouse clean, free of clutter, spills and debris.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

include the following:

  • Cleans warehouse and outside buildings, parking lots and the property perimeter
  • Mops, sweeps and scrubs warehouse floors and walls
  • Empties trash cans, and bins
  • Cleans offices and restrooms
  • Cleans pick slots and under racking
  • Works safely with approved chemicals
  • Works safely with sweepers, scrubbers, forklifts, balers, compactors, pressure washers
  • and pallet jacks
  • Properly scans and processes damaged orphan cases and reclaim items
  • Properly processes plastic and cardboard for recycling
  • Follows Company's safety policies and procedures
  • Other duties as may be assigned or required.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one to other associates of the organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of TRICEPS

Certificates and Licenses:

Ability to successfully pass Industrial Equipment Certification Test

Must be at least 18 years of age
