Western Valley Meat Company is seeking a Buildings and Grounds Lead to supervise fabrication and maintenance in our facilities. You will lead the team, plan projects, and ensure safety while working with welded metals, machinery, and building systems.

The role requires strong welding skills (TIG/MIG/Arc), blueprint literacy, and the ability to read technical docs. Outdoor/factory environment; must collaborate with engineers and designers.

Buildings and Grounds LeadDuties include working on equipment such as building structure, various types of submersible pumps, corral railing/fencing, pluming, trenching, roofing repairs, concrete repairs, electrical 120v - 480v, and all other areas as needed within the Building and Grounds department. Also incudes, welding such as Mig, Tig, and Stick.Responsibilities:Overtime and weekend work is a must when needed.Measure and cut materials to the required dimensions using tools such as saws, grinders, and drills, and Milling machines.Ensure the quality of finished products by inspecting the materials and final assemblies for accuracy, conformity, and safety.Weld, solder, or bond materials together, including steel, aluminum, and other metals or materials.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.Collaborate with other team members, including engineers and designers, to ensure that fabrication projects meet specifications and deadlines.Follow all safety procedures and wear necessary protective equipment.Troubleshoot issues with fabrication equipment and machinery when necessary.Keep accurate records of work completed, including time logs and inventory used.Help lead the buildings and grounds team, be a resource for the groupOther job duties as assigned by supervisor or managerSkills and Qualifications:Preferred - experience leading a teamStrong knowledge of fabrication techniques in Tig, Mig, Arc Welding, and machinery operation.Ability to read and write English and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and schematics.Familiarity with safety regulations and practices.Proficiency in the use of hand and power tools, as well as oxy-acetylene torch and plasma cutter.Attention to detail and precision in food manufacturing processes.Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.Physical stamina and strength to handle heavy materials and equipment.Education and Experience:High school diploma or equivalent (additional technical training or certification is a plus).Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.Welding or machining certification may be required, depending on the industry.Working Conditions:Mechanics typically work in outdoor environments or factories, which may involve exposure to noise, heat, and fumes from welding or machinery.Protective gear such as gloves, goggles, and safety clothing is necessary.This job requires individuals to be precise, safety-conscious, and able to work both independently and within a team.Western Valley Meat Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
