Job summary

America's Heartland Packing is hiring a fab projects maintenance technician in Missouri to support mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and welding tasks. The role requires adherence to GMPs and safety rules, with ability to work solo or as part of a team on large facility projects.

Responsibilities include equipment setup, inspection, teardown, diagnostics, and routine maintenance across fabrication, harvest and rendering operations, with potential overtime as needed.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18+ years old and able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Ability to read/execute work orders and translate equipment manuals.

Responsibilities

  • Implement mechanical and engineering projects.
  • Ensure all daily tasks and paperwork are completed.
  • Ensure shop equipment and tools are in good mechanical order.
  • Aid other teams on fab/harvest/rendering as needed.
  • Follow GMPs and safety practices at all times.
  • Set up machinery, visually inspect, test, and tear down.
  • Listen for unusual sounds to diagnose problems with supervision.
  • Dismantle defective machines and install new or repaired parts.
  • Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears and other parts.
  • Repair and maintain the physical structures of the establishment.
  • Note: employees may perform other related duties as needed.

Leads must be able to work either as a team or individually. Must comply with all company safety rules, lockout tagout (loto) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).

Overview

The fab projects maintenance tech must have basic knowledge of General Maintenance, Hydraulic Systems, Pneumatic, Electrical and Electronic Systems, and advanced Welding (TIG, STICK). Leads must be able to work either as a team or individually. Must comply with all company safety rules, lockout tagout (loto) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement mechanical and engineering projects
  • Ensure all assigned daily tasks and paperwork are completed
  • Ensure shop equipment and tools are in good mechanical order
  • Aid other teams (assist maintenance teams on fab / harvest / rendering as needed)
  • Always follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and Safety Practices
  • Setup machinery, visually inspect, test machinery and tear down machinery
  • Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discuss machine operation variations with supervisors or other personnel to diagnose problems or repair machine
  • Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts
  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings gears, and other parts of machinery
  • Repairs and maintains the physical structures of the establishment

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications (Required)
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Previous experience fabricating with metal (black / stainless steel) 3-5 years
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 5+ years of related experience and/or training in an industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing environment; or 5 years’ direct experience in an industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing maintenance environment
  • Possess the ability to function effectively in a team environment and interact productively with all levels of team personnel and outside contractors
  • Ability to operate a forklift, genie lift or scissor lift or other powered industrial trucks (PIT)
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to read and execute work order, write daily reports, and translate equipment manuals
  • Read, write, and orally communicate in English and ability to work with no or little supervision
  • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends and holidays as scheduled
Preferred Qualifications
  • Vocational Diploma, Technical Diploma or associate degree from a technical maintenance or school (Preferred)
  • Slaughter meat industry experience preferred
  • Bilingual English / Spanish

Summary

America's Heartland Packing is set to open its doors in early 2025. The 775,000 sq. ft. greenfield project will include a harvest floor, carcass chillers, fabrication area, rendering, further processing area, storage coolers, freezers, and loading docks.
