Job summary

SOCOTEC is offering a Building Envelope Intern internship in New York, NY. You will work with experienced engineers, inspectors, and project managers to gain hands-on experience on exterior envelope systems while spending 2–3 days per week on-site and the rest in the office.

You will assist with field reviews, drawings reviews, and documentation, while developing skills in reading plans, building codes, and construction practices.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Interest in building envelope design, construction, inspection, and engineering.
• Basic understanding of building construction, architectural design, or structural concepts.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and construction drawings.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, or other modeling/drafting software is a plus.
• Willingness to learn and work both on office and active construction sites.

Responsibilities

• Participate in field visits and site inspections with engineers.
• Observe exterior wall and building envelope construction phases.
• Assist with reviewing architectural and construction drawings.
• Support field reviews and document construction progress.
• Develop project reports and photographs for documentation.
• Learn building codes, construction standards, and best practices.
• Collaborate with project managers and team members to meet deadlines.
• Attend trainings and team meetings to develop skills.
