Job summary

SOCOTEC, Inc. in New York is seeking a Building Envelope Intern to join the team on a hybrid field/office basis.

You will work with engineers, inspectors, and project managers to gain hands‑on experience evaluating exterior wall systems, windows, doors, roofs, and waterproofing while supporting project teams on real projects. The internship blends site visits 2–3 days per week with office work learning to read drawings, review documents, and document construction progress.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management or related field.
• Interest in building envelope design, construction, inspection and engineering.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and construction drawings.

Responsibilities

• Participate in field visits and construction site inspections with engineers and inspectors.
• Observe exterior wall and building envelope construction progress.
• Assist with reviewing architectural and construction drawings and documents.
• Support field reviews and document construction progress.
• Learn building envelope codes, standards and best practices.
