Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of roving building engineers across multiple properties, including scheduling and day-to-day supervision.
• Set and enforce engineering standards, preventive maintenance programs, and safety protocols.
• Travel regularly across properties to inspect work quality and address escalations.
• Oversee HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance work across the portfolio; step in hands-on when needed.
• Develop engineering staff and foster a consistent team culture across a distributed workforce.
• Report on team performance, property conditions, and maintenance priorities to ownership and senior management.
• Serve as the primary escalation point for urgent building systems issues.

Role Description

CAMCRE is hiring a Portfolio Engineering Manager to serve as a building engineer and lead our team of roving building engineers across a portfolio of commercial properties. This role supports setting standards, managing the team's schedule and workload, and making sure every property gets the coverage and quality of work it needs. You'll also stay hands-on when needed, stepping in to support or train engineers in the field.

This role is for someone who can lead people, manage cross-property priorities, and still speak fluently to the technical work happening on the ground.

What You'll Do

• Lead and manage a team of roving building engineers across multiple properties, including scheduling, workload distribution, and day-to-day supervision
• Set and enforce engineering standards, preventive maintenance programs, and safety protocols across the portfolio
• Travel regularly across properties to inspect work quality, support engineers on complex issues, and address escalations
• Oversee HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance work across the portfolio, and step in hands-on when needed
• Develop engineering staff, and build a consistent team culture across a distributed workforce
• Report on team performance, property conditions, and maintenance priorities to ownership and senior management
• Serve as the primary point of escalation for urgent building systems issues across the portfolio

What You'll Need

• HVAC certification required
• Strong working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance systems required
• Past positions in project management, construction management, facility management or similar roles
• Prior experience leading or supervising a team of engineers or maintenance staff, ideally across multiple properties
• Proven ability to manage competing priorities across a portfolio, not just a single site
• Experience in commercial real estate or multi-site property management
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Comfortable traveling regularly and working independently across a dispersed team
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
