Job Description

Key Competencies: Minimum 5 years of comprehensive experience in commerical/industrial automatic temperature controls and HVAC systems. HVAC or Boiler & Pressure Vessel certification required. Strong troubleshooting skills in commercial automatic temperature controls mechanical HVAC equipment. Strong knowledge of control wiring and basic electricity.

Reports To: Chief Operations Officer

General Description: Strong focus on operating, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing building automation systems and HVAC control devices on all school utility and refrigeration systems. Individuals are expected to demonstrate technical knowledge in various craft areas; Electrical, HVAC, Piping/Plumbing, and or Boiler repair in order to support all systems in the school for daily/weekly work assignments. Supervisory and/or management responsibility of maintenance staff and grounds crew. The individual in the role must be available for Call-in work and perform other duties as required/assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee maintenance staff, grounds crew & continual maintenance of the overall facility.
  • Oversee and monitor the operation and make adjustments of refrigeration, heat exchanger, HVAC, electrical, emergency backup systems and hot water systems; monitors operation, adjusts, and maintains refrigeration, chilled water, and air conditioning equipment; boilers, and ventilating and hot water heaters; pumps, valves, piping and filters; other mechanical and electrical equipment; record readings, prepares maintenance reports and make adjustments where necessary to assure proper operation of equipment. Requires the ability to analyze the operation of various systems, determine the cause of any problems/malfunctions and take corrective action as required.
  • Performs troubleshooting and repairing on all base building HVAC controls and critical system equipment which includes but not limited to: assembling all tools, supplies and instruments necessary to complete the job, performing work with a minimum amount disruption, conducting immediate clean up of work area, completing the preventive task sheet, returining tools to workshop, and unused supplies to store room, recording and reporting any equipment problems, impending supply or material shortages.
  • Perform independent diagnosing, repairing and calibrating DDC and pneumatic HVAC controls, DX and refrigeration air conditioning equipment.
  • Complies with environmental policy for the safe storage, usage and disposal of hazardous materials. Maintains a clean and safe work space.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Candidate must be at least 25 years of age.
  • Candidate must attend an orientation/training session.
  • Candidate must agree to authorize The Influence1 Foundation to conduct a Criminal History Search/fingerprinting.
  • Candidate must possess good moral character.
  • Personal characteristics - Team player, hard worker, good interpersonal skills, abililty to communicate well in both oral and written reports.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS Duties performed typically in school settings to include: classrooms, hallways, gymnasium, cafeteria, auditorium, and recreational areas. Frequent walking, standing, stooping, lifting, up to approximately 30-40 pounds and occasional lifting of equipment and/or materials weighing up to 40-50 pounds may be required. Other physical activities may be required. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, noise and hazards.
