Job summary

PGA TOUR, Inc. in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, is seeking a hands-on Facilities HVAC Technician to operate, maintain, and optimize mechanical systems supporting a live broadcast studio environment.

You will work with broadcast technicians to prevent downtime, read drawings, manage BMS/BAS, and ensure precise environmental control and safety. This role requires 5–7+ years in critical facilities and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• 5–7+ years’ experience in commercial/mission critical facilities HVAC and mechanical system operations
• Experience in data centers, studios, or critical environments preferred
• High school diploma or GED; Associate degree in HVAC/R or related field, or equivalent technical experience
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems (chilled water, DX, VAV) and Building Management Systems (BMS/BAS)
• Familiarity with redundancy design (N+1, 2N) and thermal management
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings/specifications
• Ability to work under pressure during live broadcast scenarios
• HVAC Technical Training Certificate preferred; EPA Certificate required
• OSHA 10/40 preferred
• Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and customer-focused skills
• Understanding of chilled water, refrigeration, and domestic water systems
• General repair skills (plumbing, electrical, painting)
• Valid Florida driver’s license
• Competence with equipment and procedures before independent work
• CMMS or digital work order systems familiarity

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain HVAC, chilled water systems, AHUs, and precision cooling for studio spaces
• Monitor critical infrastructure: UPS, generators, ATS, chillers, CRAH/CRAC units
• Troubleshoot mission-critical HVAC in server rooms, control rooms, and production spaces
• Manage building systems (BMS/BAS) to maintain environmental conditions and respond to alarms
• Collaborate with broadcast engineering and DTS teams
• Maintain environmental conditions for studios, control rooms, equipment rooms, data centers
• Perform complex preventative and corrective maintenance
• Root cause analysis and corrective action planning
• Ensure tight temperature/humidity tolerances for broadcast equipment
• Minimize noise and vibration in live production environments
• Hands-on operations and documentation per site procedures to maximize uptime
• Participate in incident root-cause analyses and planned maintenance
• Support design reviews, build-outs, and commissioning of studios and upgrades
• Ensure designs meet broadcast standards, energy efficiency, and maintainability
• Manage contractors and service providers; monitor energy management systems
• Ensure compliance with codes/standards and maintain documentation
• Enforce safe work practices and support emergency plans
• Other duties as needed

Job description

The Best Players Need the Best People. This hands‑on position is responsible for the operation, maintenance, optimization, and reliability of mechanical systems (HVAC) supporting a live broadcast studio environment. This position ensures the continuous operation, maintenance, and climate control of critical facility infrastructure (electrical distribution, power, HVAC, building controls and physical plant) in a live broadcasting environment to ensure continuous uptime, precise environmental control and compliance with safety and broadcast‑critical standards. The position collaborates directly with broadcast technicians to prevent technical downtime, maintaining the strict environmental conditions required for 24/7 mission‑critical media operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 5 – 7+ years’ experience in: Commercial, mission critical facility such as hospital, or media/broadcast facilities preferred HVAC and mechanical system operations
• Experience in data centers, studios, or critical environments strongly preferred
• High school diploma or GED required; associate’s degree in HVAC/R, facilities engineering, or related field (or equivalent technical experience)
• Strong knowledge of: HVAC systems (chilled water, DX, VAV) Building Management Systems (BMS/BAS) Mechanical system controls and automation
• Familiarity with: Redundancy design (N+1, 2N) Load calculations and thermal management Acoustic and vibration considerations
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
• Ability to work under pressure during live broadcast scenarios

• Incumbent must demonstrate competence in the use of equipment and application of procedures before being allowed to perform independently.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

• Operate and maintain HVAC, chilled water systems, air handling units (AHUs), and precision cooling systems supporting studio and technical spaces.
• Manage and monitor critical infrastructure equipment including Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), diesel generators, automatic transfer switches, chillers, and CRAH/CRAC units.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot mission‑critical HVAC systems, closed loop systems, and chillers to prevent overheating in server rooms, studios, master control rooms (MCR), and production spaces.
• Manage and monitor building systems (BMS/BAS) to ensure optimal environmental conditions for broadcast equipment and respond to alarms.
• Work in tandem with broadcast engineering and DTS teams to align facility capabilities with high‑tech production needs.
• Maintain environmental conditions for: Studios (temperature stability, silent operation) Control rooms and edit suites Equipment rooms, data centers, and broadcast racks
• Perform highly complex preventative and corrective maintenance on physical site systems.
• Perform root cause analysis on system malfunctions and develop action plans to prevent recurrence.
• Ensure tight temperature and humidity tolerances for sensitive broadcast equipment.
• Minimize noise and vibration impacts on live production environments.
• Perform hands‑on operations and maintenance which includes all physical and administrative operations tasks, service, and maintenance in accordance with site processes and procedures to ensure the highest levels of uptime, efficiency, and safety without disruption to production.
• Participate in incident response and root cause analysis for mechanical failures.
• Coordinate planned maintenance to avoid disruption to live broadcasts.
• Support design reviews, day 2 build outs, and commissioning of new studios, control rooms, and facility upgrades.
• Ensure mechanical designs meet: Broadcast standards (acoustics, airflow, thermal loads) Energy efficiency goals Operational maintainability
• Manage contractors, vendors, and service providers.
• Monitor and optimize building automation and energy management systems to maintain environmental comfort and minimize operational costs.
• Ensure compliance with all codes, standards, and regulations (local building codes, ASHRAE, OSHA, etc.).
• Maintain documentation for inspections, maintenance, and system performance.
• Enforce safe work practices and support emergency preparedness plans.
• Other duties and special projects as needed.
