Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Critical Environments Operator IV for day and night shifts at our Sterling, VA data center. You will lead a 1-4 technician shift, monitor electrical, mechanical, HVAC and life-safety systems, and ensure uptime in a 24/7 environment.

You will follow SOPs/MOPs/EOPs/MMRs, manage preventive maintenance in CMMS, coordinate with vendors, and serve as the client-facing contact to support reliable colo operations.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent required.
• 3+ years of data center experience preferred.
• 5-10+ years in critical environments or building engineering.
• Experience with operations, maintenance, or building engineering.
• Experience using SOPs/MOPs/EOPs/MMRs.
• Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and critical infrastructure.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate 1-4 technicians during assigned shift, ensuring safe, efficient operations.
• Support operation and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, cooling, life safety, and critical power systems.
• Monitor facility alarms and prioritize uptime to protect critical load.
• Use CMMS to track preventive and corrective maintenance, work orders, inspections, and labor.
• Execute and follow SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, MMRs, and Lockout/Tagout procedures.
• Coordinate with vendors, contractors and internal teams for safe work.
• Serve as a customer-facing contact for colocation clients and maintain documentation.
• Support equipment switching, operational improvements, root cause investigations and infrastructure projects.

Job description

Title: Critical Environments Operator IV - Night Shift & Day Shift

Location: Onsite at one of the following locations:

• 43294 Old Ox Rd Sterling, VA 20166
• 2811 International Drive Sterling, VA 20166

Duration: Direct Hire

Pay: $51-$61/hr

• OT: yes 1.5x

Bonus: 5% annual target bonus. (2.5% company performance, 2.5% individual performance)

Training: M-F 8am - 5pm .

Hours/Shift Schedule: Sun - Wed (every other Wed) OR Wed - Sat (every other Wed)

• Day shift: 5:30am to 6pm
• Night Shift: 6pm to 5:30am

Must Haves:

• HS Diploma
• 3+ years of data center experience
• 5-10+ years of critical environment or building engineering experience
• Experience in operations, maintenance and/or building engineering
• Experience using SOPS/MOPS/EOP's/MMRs
• Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and critical infrastructure systems.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and customer service skills.

Plusses:

• Experience with Visio, AutoCAD

Day to day:

A leading global data center provider supporting mission-critical customer environments. This role is responsible for maintaining the reliability of critical infrastructure systems in a 24/7/365 data center environment while leading a small shift team of 1-4 technicians.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate 1-4 technicians during an assigned shift, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
• Support the operation and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, cooling, life safety, and critical power systems.
• Monitor and respond to facility alarms, prioritizing uptime and protection of the critical load.
• Utilize CMMS to track preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, work orders, inspections, and labor activities.
• Execute and follow SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, MMRs, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to complete maintenance and project work safely.
• Serve as a customer-facing point of contact for colocation clients and maintain accurate operational documentation.
• Support equipment switching, operational improvements, root cause investigations, and infrastructure projects.
