Job summary

The Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation (BNYDC) is the not-for-profit developer and property manager for the Yard on behalf of The City of New York. We seek a Building Engineer to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems across the facility, ensuring safety, compliance, and efficient operations for tenants and buildings.

Responsibilities include routine inspections, procedures for code compliance, and managing work orders.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma/GED is required.
• DMV license is required.
• Certification of Refrigeration (Q01) is required for Engineer position.
• EPA Universal Technician Certification is required.
• OSHA 10-Hour training is preferred.
• FDNY Q-01 Certificate or ability to obtain within six months.
• Cooling tower water treatment license (7G) is preferred.
• Sprinkler S-12 and Standpipe S-13 Certificates within six months.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, repair, and install HVAC systems and related equipment.
• Perform routine inspections of HVAC and fire systems.
• Prepare operational procedures to ensure code compliance and FDNY logs.
• Manage work orders through workflow applications.
• Monitor contractor performance to ensure adherence to specifications.

BNYDC constantly strives to provide an environment in which businesses and careers can take root and grow.We are seeking a Building Engineer to operate, perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair building mechanical and HVAC systems throughout the facility.Areas of ResponsibilityOperate, maintain, repair, and install HVAC systems and associated equipment.Perform routine inspection of all HVAC, and fire systems.Maintain compliance with City, County and State ordinances and codes.Handle daily reporting, logbooks, and assignments.In coordination with Chief Engineer, prepare operational procedures to ensure code compliance of Mechanical Systems, FDNY Logs, and annual maintenance inspections.Perform facility walkthroughs for inspections, data gathering, photography, and audits.Manage work orders through workflow applications.Ensure that operations are in compliance with safety procedures, client safety requirements, company policy and procedures, and applicable regulations and industry standards.Monitor contractor performance to ensure work is completed according to specifications and within the facilities rules and regulations.Keep abreast of new technologies and efficiency protocols for building operations.Perform related work and other duties as assignedThe above duties and responsibilities are not intended to limit specific duties and responsibilities of this position.
