Job description

Blink Energy Services is seeking an Building Energy Analyst/Plan Reviewer to support our clients with energy code compliance through detailed plan reviews, performance-based energy modeling, and the preparation of COMCheck and RESCheck reports.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop accurate and compliant energy models using approved software platforms, applying project-specific criteria to meet energy code and above-code program requirements.
  • Communicate clearly with project managers and third-party reviewers to address questions, resolve issues, and support submittal success.
  • Review architectural and MEP plans to verify compliance with applicable energy codes and local amendments.
  • Identify and document key plan components, including envelope assemblies, insulation values, mechanical and electrical system specifications, lighting controls, and fixture schedules.
  • Interpret and apply ICC and ASHRAE standards to create both reference and proposed building models that meet jurisdictional and client requirements.
  • Coordinate with internal team members to ensure energy modeling and plan reviews are aligned with project timelines and submission deadlines
  • Update models and documentation in response to design changes, jurisdictional feedback, or client revisions.
  • Maintain accurate records of modeling assumptions, inputs, and outputs for transparency and audit purposes.
  • Assist with the preparation of code compliance reports, including COMCheck, RESCheck, and jurisdiction-specific forms.
  • Stay informed on changes to relevant energy codes (e.g., IECC, ASHRAE 90.1) and integrate new requirements into modeling and review processes.
  • Support internal training and knowledge sharing related to energy modeling software, energy codes, and compliance strategies.
RESPONSIBILITIES & REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in energy modeling and plan review using reference standards such as the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC), International Building Code (IBC), ASHRAE 90.1, and LEED.
  • Proficiency with one or more approved energy modeling platforms, including:
  • Ekotrope, eQUEST, Trace 700, Carrier HAP, OpenStudio / EnergyPlus, REM/Rate, IES VE
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in professional email etiquette, as the role requires regular interaction with clients, colleagues, and regulatory entities.
  • Ability to work independently with a high degree of ownership over deadlines, task completion, and follow-up communication.
  • Dedicated home workspace, stable internet connection, and reliable access to remote meeting platforms
  • This is a remote position with periodic in-person team meetups and video calls. Candidates must reside in the Dallas–Fort Worth area or be planning to relocate here within the next few months (relocation assistance is not provided).
  • Ability to complete both whole-building and unit-specific energy models in accordance with project scope and code requirements.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural and MEP drawings to extract relevant building performance data.
