Job summary

Group14 Engineering, PBC is seeking a Building Enclosure Field Technician to support field testing, inspections, and energy-efficiency assessments on commercial and multifamily buildings. You will operate field equipment, document results, and coordinate with project teams.

The role requires 1–5 years in building enclosure consulting or related fields; travel up to 80% across Colorado, with some overnight stays, and a hybrid work model with two days in the Denver office.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or a related field; equivalent AEC industry experience will also be considered
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and ability to travel to project sites across Colorado’s Front Range up to 80% of the time
  • Ability to work from the Denver office approximately two days per week, in addition to field work
  • Ability to work independently on active construction sites, including climbing ladders/scaffolding, working outdoors in varying weather conditions, and lifting/transporting equipment up to 50 lbs
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace
  • Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a hybrid work environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to audiences with various levels of experience
  • 1-5 years of relevant experience in building enclosure consulting, commissioning (BECx, LEED), field testing, or a related field
  • Experience with whole‑building airtightness testing, water penetration testing (ASTM E1105 and AAMA 501.2), infrared thermography, air/water/thermal barrier inspections, and IECC performance verification
  • Working knowledge of building science principles, enclosure systems, and good construction practices
  • Ability to perform technical tasks and operate field testing equipment with limited oversight
  • Familiarity with applicable building codes and standards, including IECC, IBC, ASTM, & AAMA
  • Experience managing project scope, schedule, and budget
  • Relevant professional certifications are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and perform field observations and testing for building enclosure consulting, commissioning, and testing projects on new and existing buildings
  • Independently perform hands‑on field work, including enclosure inspections, air leakage testing, water penetration testing, infrared scanning, electronic leak detection, and other enclosure performance verification for commercial and multifamily residential buildings
  • Evaluate enclosure performance through observation, testing, and documentation
  • Support drawing and specification reviews, submittal reviews, test planning, leak investigations, existing building assessments, reporting, and general project coordination
  • Participate in technical problem solving and development of practical enclosure solutions
  • Communicate with clients, owners, design teams, contractors, and other project stakeholders
  • Proactively identify issues, anticipate project needs, and provide recommendations
  • Be part of a fun, engaged team of building enclosure professionals focused on practical solutions that improve the built environment

Our Building Enclosure team works primarily throughout Colorado and neighboring states, with clients across the country. Our projects focus on commercial and multifamily residential buildings.
