Job summary

Group14 Engineering seeks a Building Enclosure Field Technician to support field testing, inspections, and energy-efficient building performance across Colorado and neighboring states. You will work from Denver two days weekly and travel up to 80% for field tasks on commercial and multifamily buildings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or related field; equivalent AEC industry experience will be considered
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites across Colorado up to 80% of the time, with overnight travel up to 10%
• Ability to work from the Denver office about two days per week, plus field work
• Ability to work independently on active construction sites, including climbing ladders/scaffolding, outdoors in varying weather, lifting up to 50 lbs
• Familiarity with Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a hybrid environment
• Strong verbal and written communication, able to explain technical concepts to varied audiences
• Experience in building enclosure consulting, commissioning (BECx, LEED), field testing, or related
• Knowledge of IECC, IBC, ASTM, AAMA
• Experience managing project scope, schedule, and budget
• Certifications are a plus

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and perform field observations and testing for enclosure projects on new and existing buildings
• Independently perform hands-on field work including inspections, air leakage testing, water testing, infrared scanning, and leakage investigations
• Evaluate enclosure performance through observation, testing, and documentation
• Support drawing reviews, submittal reviews, test planning, and testing investigations
• Participate in problem solving and development of practical enclosure solutions
• Communicate with clients, owners, design teams, contractors, and other stakeholders
• Identify issues, anticipate project needs, and provide recommendations
• Be part of a team focused on practical solutions that improve the built environment

Job Description

Our Building Enclosure team works primarily throughout Colorado and neighboring states, with clients across the country. Our projects focus on commercial and multifamily residential buildings. We are seeking a self-motivated Building Enclosure Field Technician with a strong work ethic and an interest in energy efficiency and sustainable building performance.

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or a related field; equivalent AEC industry experience will also be considered
• Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and ability to travel to project sites throughout Colorado’s Front Range up to 80% of the time, with occasional overnight travel up to 10%
• Ability to work from the Denver office approximately two days per week, in addition to assigned field work
• Ability to work independently on active construction sites, including climbing ladders/scaffolding, working outdoors in varying weather conditions, and lifting/transporting equipment up to 50 lbs.
• Familiarity with Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a hybrid work environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to audiences with various levels of experience
• Ability to work effectively with teammates, clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders
• 1-5 years of relevant experience in building enclosure consulting, commissioning (BECx, LEED), field testing, or a related field
  • Candidates with greater experience may be considered for a higher-level position
• Experience with whole-building airtightness testing, water penetration testing (ASTM E1105 and AAMA 501.2), infrared thermography, air/water/thermal barrier inspections, and IECC performance verification
• Working knowledge of building science principles, enclosure systems, and good construction practicesAbility to perform technical tasks and operate field testing equipment with limited oversight
• Familiarity with applicable building codes and standards, including IECC, IBC, ASTM, & AAMA
• Experience managing project scope, schedule, and budget
• Relevant professional certifications are a plus
