Job summary

The Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) seeks a Building Codes Consultant to update and maintain Georgia's nine mandatory construction codes and four permissive codes, along with statewide amendments; provide technical assistance to local governments, the construction industry and the general public; and maintain code amendments submitted by local governments.

This role staff State Codes Advisory Committee and related bodies.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Construction, Engineering, Architecture, Public Administration or related field.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction, Engineering, Architecture, Public Administration, Public Policy, Political Science or related field.
• Associate's degree in Construction, Engineering, Architecture or related field AND three years of related experience.
• Four years of experience in architecture, engineering, building construction, building inspection, or building codes compliance.

Responsibilities

• Update and maintain Georgia's nine mandatory construction codes and four permissive codes and statewide amendments.
• Provide technical assistance to local governments, the construction industry and the public.
• Maintain code amendments submitted by local governments and staff the State Codes Advisory Committee and related bodies.
