Job summary

Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation's Building Code Inspector role reports to the Regulatory Affairs Officer and the Building Code Official. The BCI inspects construction activity to assure conformance with the Mashantucket Building Code and approved project documents, and assists with plan reviews and comments.

Located on the Mashantucket Pequot reservation, the position supports the Land Use Commission and regulatory permitting.

Qualifications

• Certification as ICC Commercial or Residential Inspector is highly desired or equivalent licensure.
• Ability to review plans and advise on code compliance with Mashantucket Building Code.
• Experience recognizing hazardous situations and communicating regulations impartially.

Responsibilities

• Inspect construction and renovation work for conformance with approved documents and Mashantucket Building Code.
• Assist the Building Code Official with plan reviews, comments, and code compliance advice.
• Serve as alternate for Tribe’s Land Use Commission and maintain professional relationships with contractors and the public.
