Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in architecture, construction management, or related field.
• Minimum of five years of related work experience.
• CBO certification preferred; RA preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Equivalent training or experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Manage all building permit activities including plan reviews and inspections for residential and commercial projects.
• Coordinate budget processes, staffing, and expenditures; prepare and present budget materials.
• Direct all inspection activities, set goals, review permit requests, and coordinate with other departments.
• Interpret and enforce building, zoning, and related codes; advise on complex code matters.
• Lead adoption and implementation of new building codes and regulations; align with standards.
• Represent department before City Council and boards on code updates and policy initiatives.
• Lead public outreach to promote code compliance and regulatory changes.
• Manage contracts by issuing RFPs, identifying vendors, and approving expenditures.
• Oversee staff hiring, performance evaluation, and objective setting.
• Perform other assigned duties.
