Job summary

The Building Automation Technician II at Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH installs, maintains and repairs building automation systems. You will perform regular testing, troubleshooting and documentation, working under supervision to develop advanced skills in Johnson, Honeywell, and Niagara control systems.

Responsibilities include reading building plans, using meters and digital devices, and ensuring safe operation with strong customer service when interacting with campus occupants.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• Minimum of three years of relevant experience with Johnson, Honeywell and Niagara control systems.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be qualified under the terms of the Dartmouth College Driver Safety and Motor Vehicle Policy.
• Demonstrated understanding of Johnson, Honeywell and Niagara control systems.
• Demonstrated understanding of and ability to troubleshoot pneumatic control systems.
• Computer skills including basic word processing, email, spreadsheets, smartphones or tablets.
• Ability to use laptop, tablet and other electronic devices to work on control systems.
• Ability to use all hand and power tools required to complete tasks plus electric multi-meter, light meter, temperature/humidity meter.
• Ability to document and record issues and procedures.
• Ability to read and understand building plans.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and work independently under no or minimal supervision, exercising sound judgment and applying strong problem-solving skills.
• Strong customer service skills and good communications skills; ability to communicate work to be performed with college employees and building occupants.
• Ability to perform demanding physical activity, work at heights and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity under physically difficult and/or strenuous conditions.
• Willingness to work overtime when required.
• Must have successfully completed the following training prior to performing work to which the training relates: Safety ( EHS training), Confined space training, Fall Protection, Electrical Safe work Practices.

Responsibilities

• The Building Automation Technician II performs installation, maintenance and repair of mechanical and electronic systems.
• Conducts regular testing, maintenance and troubleshooting of building controls systems.
• Develops skills in specialty systems such as Aircuity, laboratory, and greenhouse controls.
